3D printed Nismo v8 Supercar race trumpets

by evok3d

evok3d operates the in-house 3D printing centre at Nissan Motorsport (Nismo) in Melbourne Australia. This vid shows a selection of our 3D printed intake trumpets running on the dyno and installed on the race engines.

Starting Q3 2015 we worked the Nismo engineers on an intake trumpet development program to maximise performance gains from a new cylinder head produced by Nissan specifically for the Nissan Altima V8 supercars.

A large number of iterations of bell mouth geometries were 3D printed in-house and with Quickparts for dyno testing and end use.

Ultimately 3D printed trumpets were run on the race cars for the final 5 championship rounds of 2015, including the Bathurst 1000, with significant performance gains demonstrated by the team.
