Discover new opportunities to leverage CSIRO metal 3D printing capabilities and much, much more at this year's National Manufacturing Week  (May 11 - 13, Sydney Showground - Sydney Olympic Park). Among the highlights of this year's event are a number of presentations - including two from the national science agency - outlining how 3D printing experts can partner with others to open up new, high value niche markets.

National Manufacturing Week (NMW) is Australia's largest, longest-running manufacturing event, bringing manufacturing and related industries together to see, touch and discuss solutions that open up new horizons for business.

This year's event will be co-located with Inside 3D Printing, the Sydney edition of the largest professional 3D printing event worldwide. Inside 3D Printing offers visitors opportunities to stake their claim in a growing industry, with comprehensive analyses of the 3D printing market and business opportunities for 3D printing companies.

The co-located events will present twin seminar streams, in which industry leaders will share their strategies and, in many cases, opportunities for 3D printing companies to get involved.

Among highlights of the NMW Seminar Theatre program will be a presentation from Dr Keith McLean, CSIRO's Manufacturing Flagship Director outlining how his division is helping achieve successes for companies in a broad range of industries.

Dr McLean comments that the CSIRO already works with more than 400 businesses each year, helping develop new materials, processes, prototypes and other advances that generate business growth.

"Ultimately, CSIRO supports the take-up of transformational technology in Australia’s manufacturing industry, through the development of devices, integrated systems and new business models." comments Dr McLean. "At NMW, I will be seeking to connect with businesses looking to advance their capabilities, with a view to creating new partnerships that can open up more possibilities for Australian business."

Running alongside the NMW Seminar Theatre program, Inside 3D Printing's conference agenda will explore innovative ways to apply additive manufacturing in rapid prototyping, product development, medicine, manufacturing, food, automotive and broader applications.

CSIRO will also star in Inside 3D Printing's conference agenda, with the agency's Research Group Leader, High Performance Metal Industries, Dr Leon Prentice speaking about CSIRO's Lab 22 incubator, which makes metallic 3D printing available to businesses, with training and supervision from CSIRO.

Dr Prentice will share some recent projects - and outline opportunities for local companies to get involved in future projects.

Another keynote in the Inside 3D Printing conference program will be Paul D’Urso, Neurosurgeon, Epworth Healthcare and Founder, Anatomics, Australia’s most innovative manufacturer of patient-specific devices and prostheses, who now exports to 30 countries.

Paul D'Urso will share his vision for co-operation between Australian surgeons and scientists, using advanced manufacturing technologies for design, engineering and manufacturing research in a clinical setting.

Alongside the seminar programs, both National Manufacturing Week and Inside 3D Printing will present hundreds of products from around the world, to help businesses transform for future growth.

Don't miss out! Entry to NMW is free for trade visitors and registration is now open at By registering now, you'll access a range of services, including updates about this year's game-changing event.
