Inside 3D Printing Melbourne wraps on a high

Attendances at the last 2 sessions were higher than the earlier sessions said Christoph Rowen, Managing Director Meckler Media Asia Pacific, presenters of Inside 3D printing Melbourne.
This is a first, generally attendances drop off advised Christoph.
This indicates the high level of presenters for the event plus the level of interest in all aspects of 3D Printing - additive manufacturing.

The presentations commenced with the keynote presentation by Terry Wohlers, Principal Consultant & President Wohlers Associates, publishers Wohlers Report 2015

3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing State of the Industry Annual Worldwide Progress Report.

Terry’s presentation covered;

 Growth of 3D printing — quadrupled in the past 5 years

Proliferation of lower cost machines - less than $5000.00 — FDM clones is now in excess of 300 brands

Design software

New Machine Technology — in particular the introduction of HP’s multi jet fusion. This technology will provide reduced build times.

Uptake by Airbus & GE in the aircraft industry

Introduction of print services by retailers — e.g. Office Works

Global manufacturing is estimated to be $13 trillion — 5% take up by additive manufacturing — $640 billion !!!

The following presenters provided a range of topics covering their specialty areas for 3D Printing.

All presentations were very well attended & ended with Q & A session that had to be called short by MC Bernard Meade of Melbourne University.

Prior to the final presentation by Tim Caffrey Senior Consultant Wohlers Associates, attendees were treated to a very informative & lively panel session.
